Dude VR6 0 Posted October 5, 2011 If you punch into ebay spot weld drill, there is loads, but if I was you I would pay about £20 for one, and get Cobolt one as it will last longer. HSS drill bits don`t last as long, Or if you are feeling rich, see if you can find a Carbide tipped drill, stay sharpe and last ages. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Wild-Animal 0 Posted October 5, 2011 I have always used normal drill bits, that way if they snap then it doesn't matter. Usually when they snap its down to the operators fault. The part thats tricky is sharpening them properly if you have a grinding stone and the ability to sharpen them properly then I would go for low cost ones. Timbo 0 Posted October 6, 2011 If the back panel isn't going to be used I would just drill straight through with a normal drill bit. I've used the spot weld drills in the past and they go blunt very quickly. They're also a PITA to sharpen. So if you're not keeping the boot floor don't waste your time, just go through both panels. blue95 0 Posted October 7, 2011 Dont bother with spot weld cutters, expensive and fidgety......just get a good quality metall drill bit HSS carbon or whatever it is. Stop regular and lube with machine oil, you will drill through for a while, after a bit you well get a feel for the metal and you will surprised you can sense when you can have gone through just enough metal to split the panels. Also worth having a flat chisel and hammer too! Dont worry about making too much mess holes can always be filled! Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
