Tyre stretch ?

Hello all

I have audi TT rims (17) on my vr6

when I bought it, the rear tyres were Toyo Proxes. Size 205 40 17. The stretch was obvious

Now I changed them to another brand (cheapo rubbish) same size etc and now under strong rear suspension compresion they just touch the arch.

I am going to buy all new tyres this week and want to get the Yokohama Parada Spec 2

I was wondering if anyone has experience with the stretch on these as I don't want the rubbing again

Yokos should stretch ok, cheaper tyres tend to be chunkier as you've found..

Pirellis are good too..

if they are the tt comps like i have i used to get scrubbing on my rear arches in dips in the road. Really need to have the rears rolled (which I've not got round to doing yet) and you'll need a 5mm spacer to allow fitment of the centre caps.

ok, pirrellis it is and hope they work. Not going to roll arches as prefer look without. Just no off roading and I'll be fine

err just get 195's instead of 205's and say good bye to rubbing!

Yoko Parada's are quite a square tyre so they wont strech. If you really want strech then Flaken ZE912's seem to be good for that.

Falken 205/40/17's definitely come up smaller than most 205/40/17's so are a good option for a couple of mm clearance.

 

Yoko's as mentioned tend to come up larger along with Goodyears.

 

Bridgestones & Toyo are other brands which on the whole come up smaller than average in varying diameters.

 

Best to go find some real life examples of each tyre and judge for yourself.

went with the Parada´s in the end.

Look good, grip like newborn on a boob, and no rubbing
