badgeless vr6 grill on a 1.8?

chris vr6nos suggested my car would look better with a vr6 grill, and it got me thinking. I fancy a badgeless one, and i know venom sell them but it says on their site 'fits later slam panel' with mine being a 1990, what are the chances of it fitting? if it wont, where can i get one that will?

My old 90 16v had a later 3 slate grill on it when i bought it, and that fitted fine

i think i read somewhere on here that you have to snap some tabs of and just use cable ties to hold it on

Or, you can put some holes in the slam panel that match the clip location on the later grille, which is what i did. In retrospect, should have snapped off the grille lugs and used cable ties. Thats where the problem lies though, the clip location on the later grilles doesn't match the holes in the early slam panel. It can be done though, as described here and above......why go badgeless though, never been a fan of that myself.

mines got all the holes in the desired places from std maybe worth popping off the grille and have a look

I put a 3 slat on my 89 16v, it fitted on fine, it was a bit tight though and needed a bit of persuassion but nothing snapped!
