Rams 0 Posted January 31, 2012 Hi all I've got issues.... But you all knew that! Lol When I switch on the heated seat, for eg turn on passenger heated seat, the revs increase. If I put my window up/down the revs sort of drop and if the button is still in the up position with the window fully closed the dash lights dim and hear a clicking noise in the door and the relay behind in the passenger door card. The window works fine but the dash lights dimming and clicking noise seems strange. I may have to replace the battery as it doesn't seem to be holding charge, once fire up its charging fine but need t check voltage at alternator end which I will do shortly. Any ideas? I checked through last night but most people that had issues seem that the window wasn't working properly. I will check my wiring again but I do have the powered doors in that a button opens the doors instead of a handle. The doors are opening fine but will check this out. When I wired up my stereo my left hand speaker would make a noise and the speaker would move forwards and backwards. Ran a test and with head unit off, my left hand crossover has power momentarily when the ignition is switched on. Traced all wiring and all checks out. Power to amp is seperate from speaker cables. Would love to try and sort these issues and wondering if something isn't connected since doors etc have been off after re spray.. Rams
KADVR6 0 Posted January 31, 2012 my revs rise slightly also when i turn the heated seats also but thought they all did while your stationery?
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 31, 2012 If in doubt, replace the battery. The engine management will have compensations if the battery voltage falls below a certain point, so it could be the heated seat is drawing more current than the battery can cope with, so the idle valve is opening a bit more to compensate. The Bosch Silver / Varta Silver Dynamic recently won a battery award (in the common 027 size, 63AH) and comes with a 5 year warranty. £65 - http://www.tayna.co.uk/Varta-Car-Batteries-S218-1.html That's where I'd start. This time of year is always when battery / electrical problems become apparent.
Rams 0 Posted January 31, 2012 Cheers. Will try new battery shortly, the car has been sat for ages, been off the rd whilst being painted and only really had short journeys. Should dash lights dim and relay click when closing /opening windows? At present, the rear doors cards are off being trimmed so things generally sound different from what you are used to hearing but don't recall the door making a click / relay sound. Rams 0 Posted January 31, 2012 Do your dash lights dim when using the elec windows?
GlosterOx 0 Posted January 31, 2012 Do your dash lights dim when using the elec windows? Yes, very slightly - I thought it was just due to the drain on the battery? Ian.
KADVR6 0 Posted January 31, 2012 Do your dash lights dim when using the elec windows? yeh they sure do, but they never did during warmer times so i have just put it down to the cold, also when i indicate the revs are rising but only when i indicate left?? think i should re-name my car Christine lol
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 31, 2012 Yep, it's normal for the lights / dash to dim when the window motors are straining against the stops before the thermal fuse cuts power.
JJS 0 Posted January 31, 2012 When I put my heated seats on my wife nags me, do I need a new battery or new wife. Sorry not helping much. afternoon all. :-)
Rams 0 Posted January 31, 2012 Battery changed now... Will keep an eye on things. At least I installed my gauges last night so I can see what's going on. Re nagging wife.... I now point the tv remote at her and pretend to mute her when she starts nagging! Sometimes works!
JJS 0 Posted January 31, 2012 What's that setting on your radio that turns the volume up when the car noise gets louder? I want sky to invent that for when the wife starts talking through my tv programs!
Rams 0 Posted January 31, 2012 Great idea, they do it with the adverts! Although sky say they don't! Mine isn't even a wife but is asking the question of when I will make her my wife. I feel doomed! The rado as a wedding car would make a nice picture come to think about it!
