Decent Powder Coating/Polishing Shops?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to get some wheels re-furbed, my problem being I want somewhere that can powder coat the centre a darker gunmetal colour, but have a polished lip - RH Cup is the wheel in question.

Anyone know of anywhere decent (or decent wheel re-furb places) around the Bristol/Wilts area?

I've spoken to every powdercoater in the bristol area in the last few weeks and they're all pretty useless..

I just had a set of wheels blasted and coated by onlinecoating.co.uk and im not even convinced they blasted them.

I've used www.abcenamelling.co.uk in the past and they're okay, but wouldn't be able to help with polishing lips.

There was a guy who was a regular on here years back who used to sell refurbed wheels - generally black centres with polished lips. He was from swindon. Could be worth getting in touch with to see if he can still recommend somewhere over that way?

I've just dropped my Borbets off at the wheel specialist Manchester for black centers and polished dish, they have a place in hants if that's anywhere near you? My geography is crap lol!

They aren't cheap but from what I've seen it looks like (Hopefully) they are sh!t hot. They are a franchise though so no doubt the work will vary a little from place to place.

Thanks mate, will give him a PM and hope he gets it! I was aiming to take them up http://www.lepsons.com/, but alas they only do diamond cut finishes - don't really fancy spending the extra cash on that or waiting for the corrosion!!

Thanks mate, already been quoted a lot more than the place mentioned above (Lepsons) for a standard finish, plus it means driving 1.5hrs each way to drop them off rather than dropping them off in Swindon where I'll be working anyways :( How much did they quote u for paint and polished lips (if u don't mind me asking?)

I'm tempted to just get them all powder coated in as much of a shiny dark silver colour as possible, and hope the lips shine up enough..?

Not at all mate:thumbleft: They said that diamond cutting was more expensive as it's less time consuming, but I always wanted them polished anyway and for that along with black centers it's £600 quid. Not cheap like I say lol! but I want them as new/better than new.

Lovely wheel the RH cup by the way, one of my faves actually, very under rated! I have some 9x14's somewhere. How about refurbing them yourself? I think they would probably be pretty straight forward. I managed this with the borbets when I first bought em, so I think the RH cup being a bit of a smoother design would be worth a shot? http://www.volksdevil.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=149&start=24

Bladdy hell!! They should look spanking afterwards for that price dude! :) Yeh they are a nice wheel hadn't really noticed them before til some came up for sale on here - think they look pretty spot on tbh have a quick gander at the new photos if u like mate on the last page http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?43921-V-Dubstar-s-VR-New-shoes-6-2-2012

Fair play dude they came up really nice, good work!! Don't think I'd have the patience to polish them up myself if I'm completely honest, took 'em into Lepson's earlier today to get them all done in a very bright dark chrome, should be picking up next Friday :D

Rocco Jocco always used to take his wheels to Andrew at www.wheelrefurbishing.co.uk

Andrew has done loads of my wheels over the years but I live too far away now :(

In fact my Corrado is in the "Customers cars" section with the Vette wheels which he did for me.

Jay

Nice cheers for the link mate, had already checked them out but a little too far away unfortunately, especially at those prices and work quality!! That photo of ur motor on there looks well tidy, paintwork looks flawless!!

Has anyone used Pristine Wheels for a refurb?

They have several locations - originating in Woburn (nr Milton Keynes).

The tyre fitters I visited today highly receommended them.

I don't know prices at this stage.

A guy I know had some done there, they looked bang on but I think it was quite pricey! Can't remember prices though :(

I can back up what Jay says about WheelRefurbishing.co.uk aka BJV Engineering.

Had numerous sets done over the years [have pics of all if required] and time after time they came out to the same excellent standard at very reasonable prices.

They like cash ;) and both Andrew and Jack like a good Corrado also.

Pristine Wheels are also very good, quality is very high however you pay for this in the cost of refurb. All extras are added on to price of refurb i.e. dent removal, welding, tyre removal/re-fit etc unlike BJV.

Both do great work but offer slightly different services to the general public.

Thanks for the info.

Would you be suggesting that Pristine Wheels may be more leaning towards the Concours standard of car, whereas BJV are offering a good service without going to quite concours level and then reflected in cheaper prices ?

Guys,

I am being asked when obtaining quotes, if my wheels are Diamond Cut. I don't think so, but thought you lot would know. They are ordinary Speedlines.

Cheers

Wendy, yeah just painted and not diamond cut, which is a machined/polished appearance.

Well I definitely wouldn't recommend TWS at Manchester. Only got my rims back last week after they attempted to do the job but couldn't!? They have polished the dishes and the rest of the wheel inside and out is bare/blasted alloy, so they couldn't even fit my tyres as they won't seal. £400 quids worth and I'm now left with unusable wheels which are in a worse state than when I took them in!

Pretty p!ssed off to say the least.

What u actually had to pay them for a job they haven't done?? Is all they've done blast the wheel and polish the dishes?
