akacheesy 0 Posted March 29, 2004 Mine seems to take ages, at least 9-10 miles. Does that mean my thermostat is sticking or is that normal?
dr_mat 0 Posted March 29, 2004 Define "warm up" - do you mean reach normal water temp or reach normal oil temp. Reaching 60-70 degrees on the water should take 3-4 minutes at the most (except on VERY cold days), but reaching 85 degrees on the oil can take a lot longer than that. Guest Posted March 29, 2004 mines takes around 5 mins i'd say, i'll check tomorrow :) to get upto 80 odd on the oil takes just under 7-10 mins off the top of my head
Timo. 0 Posted March 29, 2004 If you're wanting to go for a blast that 7-10 mins seems an eternity!! :( Worth the wait though  I would say mine takes about the same amount of time timo
HiAsAKite 0 Posted March 29, 2004 ..and wait for the oil temperature to get to running temp before blasting it.. not the water
HodgyVR6 0 Posted March 29, 2004 If it is taking 9-10 miles for the water temperature to get to 60-70 degrees it may well be that your thermosat is stuck in the open postion. Just had the same problem on my VR6 and then it decided to stick in the closed postion and would over heat after 5 mins of driving, got it replaced and every thing is running fine again. Has it always taken a while for the water to heat up or is this something that has just started to happen?
Guest Posted March 30, 2004 10 mins for the water to get to 70 this morning, and over 15 for the oil to get to 80, but thats cos of the stupid traffic leaving Oxford. As mentioned above, its the oil temp you wanna worrry about
seanoVR 0 Posted March 30, 2004 My oil temp reaches optimum after 10 mins of driving, and the water gets to 70-80 after about
PhatVR6 0 Posted March 30, 2004 VR always used to take a good while to warm up (well, until the thermostat siezed up!), but my 8v is hot in a couple of minutes and the oil gets up to 100 in no time at all.
dr_mat 0 Posted March 30, 2004 Hey, that sounds like a good reason to buy an 8v! Someone found one, at last! ;) ;)
PhatVR6 0 Posted March 30, 2004 I found 2 actually, but one was a heap of sh1t. and the other one, well, I bought it! VR6 going in it at Easter.
dr_mat 0 Posted March 30, 2004 Two reasons, or two 8vs? Never mind, it's not important..
PhatVR6 0 Posted March 30, 2004 2 8v's......the only reason for buying it is that it was the cheapest way to buy a tidy late shell in a decent colour.
