Steam room, extra?

When my heaters turned on and the cars up to temp I get steam coming out of the vents,

I immediately thought heater matrix, but, it doesn't smell sweet, or like coolant at all, just musky, I changed my heater matrix about 4 months ago.

I washed it the other day and got a fair bit of water down the windscreen and into the ducts around the bottom.

Is there anything else it could be?

Only other thing really is water in your heater ducts. Check the seal from the bay where the heater matrix pipes enter through the fire wall. If alot of water went in through the seal when you washed it, it could have collected in the matrix housing.

hmm, i'll have a look! I really don't want it to be the matrix as that was a pain in the ass!

If it has coolant in it, it'll leave a residue everywhere.

well its done the whole windscreen a few times now, and its clean. what sort of residue? sticky or just a light film?

Yeah a slightly greasy film

where can I get a decent heater matrix from?

also, in the meantime can I put the two hoses, that go into the matrix, together?

yeah just connect the pipe going in and pipe going out with a U piece of pipe to by pass the matrix - luckily the weather is getting warmer haha.

 

I think people would recommend VW only for the matrix - not 100% though.

check if gsf still supply valeo ones, they're about 1/3rd of the price of vw.

Whats the quality like on teh GSF ones Hasan?

iirc the valeo ones are the ones they have as standard, so I would assume same product, just not ridiculous mark up?
