Top effort on the cars mate and buying another one before the first was complete is definately worth a shake of the hand :) Obviously handy and know what you are doing :) x

Another week, another update. I have the week off next week and I need to get the VR6 on the road and have a bit of fun with it. So I rang my current insurance company(Hastings) and got a quote to insure the VR, they came back with a price of £1200!!! I declined and decided to ring Adrian Flux and spoke to a lovely young lady who gave me a price fully comp of £295 with all the bells and whistles. So the car is now insured from Monday onwards, and my plan is to get it MOT'd on the same day, so ive got a busy weekend ahead to overhaul the brakes and finish off a few loose ends!

Ive still been busy as always, but mainly sorting out the tunes:

Made some new seaker pods:

And refitted the rest of the interior, including new handbrake leather, gear knob, fuse board fixings and new A, B and C pillars:

So fingers crossed the car will be MOT'd on Monday and pass without any problems. Cant wait to rip up the tarmac with it. :)

Its been a while since I last updated this, so here's a load of pretty picture, and some not so pretty:

I decided to do a head rebuild as recently the Corrado had been kicking out black smoke and burning loads of oil, i've never done a head rebuild or headgasket change before so this was a nice little challenge for me, and all the information I needed for the build was sourced from the forum and google, the rebuild took me a weekend to complete:

put it all back together now:

I finished connecting up the leads and fuel lines, when flushed the coolant system and refilled it with coolant antifreeze, and then dropped the oil and changed the filter.

The oil was well overdue a change!

Id turned the engine over by hand before I put the rocker cover and upper manifold back on, just to check that I had done the timing correctly and everything lined up just as it should.

So being confident that all was well I turned the key and the engine fired straight back into life, it was abit noisey for the first minute or so until the oil pressure built up, but as soon as id checked the coolant and oil was not leaking in anyway I took it for a drive. I cant believe the difference in the performance. Its much more responsive, smoother and quicker to drive.

Now ive just got to tidy the rest of the engine bay up and retape the wiring loom, hopefully when the weather warms up abit!

You've got some skills, just read your thread. Particularly like the membrane sheeting on the doors.

Ended up swapping the engine over for one off a Passat VR6 that I got for a bargain. Even though I replaced the cylinder head the car was still smoking, so I dropped the 2.8 in over a weekend and will rebuild the 2.9 over the winter months.

I removed the engine after work on Friday, and had the new engine up and running by Sunday. The new engine feels a lot tighter and thankfully doesn't smoke now! I fitted the 2.9 upper manifold and throttle body and can honestly say that I can't notice any real difference in performance to the 2.9.

I've also recently replaced:

Front top mounts,

Tie rod ends,

Drop link stabilisers,

Rear calipers,

Thermostat housing and sensors,

And changed the diagnostic port for an OBD2 connector.

The mot had expired so I booked it in for a test and it passed with flying colours!

Another year of trouble free motoring lies ahead. :)
