phaserno1 0 Posted April 1, 2004 To all, Dose any one know why VR6 c’s were made with a 5 stud pattern, funny question I know but I don’t know the answer…..????
dr_mat 0 Posted April 1, 2004 Bigger drive shafts, innit? Bigger wheel bearings, bigger disks. Suppose they decided the spacing between the studs for 4-stud wheels would be too much.
PhatVR6 0 Posted April 1, 2004 Supposedly for extra power handling. Then again, cosworths are 4 stud......
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted April 1, 2004 Who knows?!! Doesn't seem to be any definitive answers from a quick bit of Googling..... Must be weight related thinking about it logically...... why else do base Peugeot 106s have 3 stud wheels and and HGVs have 20 odd stud wheels? Perhaps there are acceptable limits of each stud pattern within each manufacturer's designs.....such as the Ford Focus RS having 18" 4 stud wheels and the Civic Type R having 5 stud 17s, which weighs 125Kg less than a Corrado VR6.....Dunno! Just guessin!
