Light steering

Recommended Posts

Any reason why my VR6 pulls off a straight line at full throttle?..

..and at high speeds seems "light" in the steering department?

I have read a thread somewhere on the www about this prob but can't find it again to find what the fix is.

Tyre pressures are good.

Try dropping the steering column down a notch. Don't ask why but that has got rid of that problem for 3 of us so far

Does the steering have self centering weight when exiting a bend? Is it light and seemingly has no effect when flicking the wheel left to right when travelling in a straight line?

When was the last time you had a laser alignment done?

Seems to be a fair few of us with same problems at the moment...... no definitive answer as yet but either the steering rack or column bearings and / or UJs seem the likely culprits......if everything else is known to be good.

Make that 4 of us !! Changed the steering height and it's made a fantastic difference to steering feel !!

would the light handling and the slight drifting 'round corners be something to do with that balding Nankang Ex500 tyres that have been on the car for a year or so ?

off to get 4 Bridgestone Potenza RE720s for £232.00 tomorrow - delivered !

:-P
