wafers 0 Posted May 14, 2012 Quick question... I've owned 2 Rados in the past but at that stage they were still newish. I've spotted a tidy looking VR, but the problem is the rear of the sills need some welding to tidy them up. The car still has MOT. Is it fairly common for this to happen, or is it a sign the car is likely to have grot appearing elsewhere? I wondered if it was something to do with sunroof drainage possibly? Cheers in advance 8-)
Wild-Animal 0 Posted May 14, 2012 if its rusting at where the rear arches meets the sills then I would say thats fairly common, their is a lip that collects all of the rubbish from the wheel arch.
leeeeshad 0 Posted May 14, 2012 That's where mine had rusted, new metal welded in now and the lip filled so water can't sit there.
Rich_T 10 Posted May 14, 2012 It is quite common, likewise the centre of the sills also rust out. In some ways you're better buying one with rusty sills rather than one thats been repaired, theres a hidden centre section of the sill that also rusts and if a quick repair's been done then this will be ignored, at least this way you can be sure to have a proper job done.
