Captaincook 0 Posted April 7, 2004 Hi there, Can any one help, I noticed a rummble comming from the front drivers side of my VR6 last light the car was stationary, so it rules out wheel bearings, the rumble comes throuht to the steering and can be felt through the floor, does not get louder or better when you rev the engine. Any idea what it could be.
dazzyvr6 0 Posted April 7, 2004 could be a worn engine mount
andycowuk 0 Posted April 7, 2004 hi I am not really that familiar with the VR, but I can make afew suggestions!! I think that your power steering pump and (main) water pump are at that corner. They can get noisey when nackered. I dont think there is a mount in the front right corner - just the same as all the other cars, one one ech side to the rear of the eninge, and one at the centre on front. If its a vibration, check that none of the pullies have become bent. HTH (and I am sure Kev will be along soon)
dazzyvr6 0 Posted April 7, 2004 umm the rear engine mount is around that area
andycowuk 0 Posted April 7, 2004 yes it, but I am helping our man isolate the noise - it could be a mount....but not if its coming from further forward!
dazzyvr6 0 Posted April 7, 2004 best bet would be to get the frontend jacked up and get a mate to turn the steeering while you listen out for any rumbling noises, the engine mount would give more vibration than anything,
Captaincook 0 Posted April 7, 2004 Thanks for the replys, Dont think its the pullies because its not there all the time, could be a mount, like dazzvr6 said I thing im going to have to jack it up and have a look.
