hipcity 10 Posted June 24, 2012 Hi, Im having trouble with the rear spoiler motor. It sticks when going up or down - i.e. it moves in stages. I stripped the unit down completely, cleaned everything and re-greased using lithium grease. Even all the carbon dust from the motor and both pipes that the mechanism move along, but the sticking is still there? swiftkid 1 Posted June 24, 2012 Whats it like when operating it from the switch? Have you lifted it up manually as well using the winder on the mechanism? You just pull it out 1 click and then you can wind the spoiler up and down, obviously you can tell if its sticking when you wind it. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

dragon green 5 Posted June 25, 2012 When you had the mechanism out, did you test it on the battery ? There's two wires coming from the motor, just put them on a battery This will tell you if it's the mech. That needs replacing, or if you have a wiring fault ! Where abouts are you ? Any ideas - could it be the rely????? :shrug: The problem will be the thermal trip inside the motor assembly. If you opened the motor up to clean out the carbon you will have seen a green rectangular component in line with one of the brushes, that is the thermal trip. You can remove it completely and just put a link wire in. Providing the motor isn't pulling too much current it will work fine, otherwise it will just blow the fuse protecting that circuit.
