Corrado Rear Spoiler Problem

Hi,

 

Im having trouble with the rear spoiler motor.

 

It sticks when going up or down - i.e. it moves in stages.

 

I stripped the unit down completely, cleaned everything and re-greased using lithium grease.

Even all the carbon dust from the motor and both pipes that the mechanism move along, but the sticking is still there?

 

Any ideas - could it be the rely????? :shrug:

Whats it like when operating it from the switch? Have you lifted it up manually as well using the winder on the mechanism? You just pull it out 1 click and then you can wind the spoiler up and down, obviously you can tell if its sticking when you wind it.

Hi - its the same when using the dash switch. The manual winder works fine - does not stick at all when using it

When you had the mechanism out, did you test it on the battery ?

There's two wires coming from the motor, just put them on a battery

This will tell you if it's the mech. That needs replacing, or if you have a wiring fault !

Where abouts are you ?

The problem will be the thermal trip inside the motor assembly. If you opened the motor up to clean out the carbon you will have seen a green rectangular component in line with one of the brushes, that is the thermal trip. You can remove it completely and just put a link wire in. Providing the motor isn't pulling too much current it will work fine, otherwise it will just blow the fuse protecting that circuit.

 

Removed mine a couple of years ago now and it's worked fine ever since.
