Aftermarket headlights old issue new question

Ok so I've been thinking of upgrading all the lights on my corrado.

 

Inpros or the Sonar ones for the headlights look similarly good IMO BUT....

 

...I don't like the way the black looks and the chrome ones look too bling!

 

So my brainstorm idea was to crack them open 350degree style and then paint the chrome section of the housing in a matte silver for a semi OEM look.

 

Thoughts? Stupid idea, ok idea?

 

I'd also want to do this with the fogs and indicators too as I like things being consistent.

Get the chrome ones and then get subtle tint lamin X- I've done it on mine and it deblings them nicely and protects them. The light output with some good bulbs and an uprated loom is great.
