north wales 20vt build :) first try,,,,

Recommended Posts

thought the newbee place was teh build thread so il put it here now thanks to some guidance from a member,, all ready had some usefull tips ect :)

hi im rhys from north wales, im 20 years old, and middle of doing my 20vt, bit of history first

17 mk4 1.6

17 mk2 gti 8v

18 a3 20vt, mk2 gti 8v,

19 a4 b6 tdi, mk2 1.8 driver, a4 20v, jetta 8v

20 audi tt 225, mk3 8v x2, mk3 16v and raddo 16v (soon to be 20vt)

current cars is the mk2 16v daily, tt is off road due to piston ring or valve, mk2 1.8 driver project and my corrado main project

the 20vt im using for the conversion was out my old a3, which i stripped for parts so i have everything from it

engine spec

1.8 t agu ko3 (gay lil turbo)

silicon tip

induction

forge 007p

2.75 inch downpipe

fmic

and revo remap , was running 204 bhp and 236ft lbs before the downpipe andfmic

the car

it was a 1.8 16v 1990 corrado, apparantly a ettinger edition, had rare wooden steering wheel and knob, alloys, oettinger suspension and brakes and cammed engine ect

i got teh car for £50 but the previous owner was to keep the engine and interior (things i didnt need) and the wheels were robbed apparanly, i cant complain as its pretty clean car, solid and has everything i need

They look like fiat coupe brembo's, be interesting to see how you fit them, I looked at some of those but couldn't get them to fit the hub

u got a build thread by anychance? wouldnt mind a peep :p

yes they are same as fiat and alfa mounting,, the mounting doesnt look too bad atm, its more of getting the right size disk and simply plated steel or billet aliminium (if ure good at machining) ive found out that 280s and 288s are too small to fit these calipers it messes up the centring of the pads,, but ill keep this dated see how it goes :)

well been at it some more :p ,, going to be bit slow on updates latly as weatehrs closing in and also the tt is in the garage and need to build the apx engine for tht :/ *******ing thing

right lil updates today :)

the brembos lined up with the 312 discs :) the back lines upp well just a matter of fabricating the plate for mounting and 312 pads

heat wrapped my downpipe :)

routed the pipes, just need to trim one section so it can be squared up for better fit :)

converted the rears to vr6 discs for the 5x100 conversion and going to be using my a3 turbo calipers on it

and just a size comparison on the discs :p

familys going mad with me storing all these random parts everywhere :)

ill get sum more pics tmoz, but the car is now on the ramp instead of the mk2 :) so i can remove the old exhaust and start undersealing the car :)
