VR6 Starting issues - when hot

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what could cause issues with starting the VR6 after a long run / when the engine is warm?

It fires quick and easy from cold, but takes a long time to fire when the engine is hot.

I've just fitted a new coil pack and fitted new sparks and HT leads so not sure what could be causing this???

Any advice / comments appreciated.

Cheers

Not sure this would explain why there is no issue starting from cold...only happens when engine is fully up to temp.

I heard this was a fairly common issue with VR6's so would be keen to hear from anyone else who has had similar issues and managed to sort?

Cheers

Maybe time for an injector recon?

It is quite common for faulty or worn injectors to be fine from cold but cause hot starting issues.

Definitely sounds like a fuel system delivery issue.

Hmm...This may also explain some of the "lumpy" idle issues I'm having too...

Worth trying injector cleaner additive in the fuel?

Thanks....looks like "relay no.4" was the hot starting issue on harry's car.

Worth a go...anyone know where to get hold of one?

It can't hurt but i'm not sure how effective those products are tbh. Just had a quick look through this http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?51640-VR6-hot-start-problem-fixed-at-last-!/page3 not sure if any of these guys managed to sort it?

Anyone know part no for relay no.4? My car is currently still with the garage so I can't check it myself.

Cheers

I would go with injectors, i had this problem. I never thought it would have been the injectors until I replaced them and yeah they were well past there best.
