Unless you tell them - how do the insurers find out if it doesn't put points on your licence. Can they check with the police?

Ridiculous! I've heard nothing of this so hopefully it is solely the Admiral group who are doing this. I've never needed to do one myself, but as far as I'm aware, nothing goes on your licence.
