how scary!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

driving home from work last thursday and when just pulling away from a juction the steering column coupling fell off leaving me in a ditch,

on inspection the next day I tried to re fit it only to fing out that its the wrong one , ity was a short one from the earlier C's , instead of it being fixed on by about 20mm with the bolt through it was held on by about 4mm and no bolt !!!!!

now I have driven this car about 6000 miles since I bought it so how lucky was I that it fell of at about 15mph , but more to the point what twat fits the wrong part like that to something as important as the steering wheel :x

needless to say I am now sadled with a £204 bill from the VAG dealer as there is no patent part :x

"steering column coupling" - to what exactly does this refer?

Do you mean the bit with the two universal joints that connects the steering column to the rack?

You mean they charge £204 for *that*??

Jeez..

Three main steering components:

Steering rack: £390

UJ linkage: £204

Steering column: £537

That's basically another spare corrado's worth of steering components..
