Interior water leak

Recommended Posts

My REAR passenger side window has a slight leak, it wouldn't be too annoying except it drips onto passenger seatbelt reel, this in turn leads to a whining girlfriend 'cause her shoulder gets wet!

Took it to the stealer who said they couldn't do anything, they said it's a bonded window and the bonding is starting to fail, advised I see a windscreen specialist.

Took it to Autoglass to see what they thought, was told that the glass couldn't be re-used as the trim(seal?) would have to be cut and they would have to fit new glass complete with trim, at a bargain price of £320ish +VAT  .

This price seems a little outlandish to put it politely, and I don't understant why they can't use the original glass with a new seal.

Can anyone advise if the above is correct or if there is another way to repair the leak.

Thanks.

Reggit,

Hi, I havent had this problem myself, but from reading it, unfortunately I dont see anything that looks wrong.

Have you tried to get a good few quotes on this? Investigate claiming of your insurance?

Just out of ineterest (and without checking to see what it might look like) could you discretely smear some silicone on as a temp measure?

HTH

Yeah, thats the right price for the Glass and seal (comes as one unit)

I suggest you try and get one off a car thats breaking as the whole unit can be reused if good but requires cutting out as its bonded and then re-bonding back in again (mine had to be done when they resprayed the drivers side of my car and the bodyshop had to get a glass company in to do that part of the work)
