underlay

hi my carpet on passenger side got soaked and i think i sorted the leak now.thing is you can see the shapes of the floor pan in the carpet now so i take it the underlay is knackerd.has anyone used house underlay.

I would dry it out first , it takes a while as its so dence , had to do it before and it was fine. Me and matt had a valver that we tried to sell and had to break in the end , that had a leak and there was inches of water in the front but it dried out fine .Rob

Don't put the felt underlay in a machine, I will disintegrate! If it stinks of mildew then remove it, put it in a bath with washing liquid and gently press it, carpet underlay isn't thick enough, you need thick felt and the vw stuff has heavy bitumen like backing to help prevent road noise and droning.

Yes they will mate , front and back are seperate , i put mine in the bath first and soaked em in machine powder , bit of scrubbin with a brush , then washing machine .Edit i did mean carpets not the underlay

The black sealer that joins the carpets together ? if so thats just what it does ,stays sticky so make sure you hang the carpet so its free of sticking back on itself .

ok cheers, be a job for the spring.my boot carpet needs doing aswell thats got loads of stains

Top tip, put the bodies in bin bags :twisted:
