New Aerial Needed.

Hi guys.

 

I'm in need of a new aerial and don't know if to buy new from vw or try something different.

 

Has anyone changed there's for a different one?? Sharks fin etc. (pics please)

 

Just looking for some ideas.

Don't think they are forsale any more.

He says he is a VW specialist,email him and ask if he has any for a Corrado ?

Is yours amplified at the aerial ? Or IIRC the later models were amplified at the radio !

Need to check. It's a 96 VR6 so think I would be.

Think I've found one, just got to check mine in the morning to see if its the right one before I buy it.

I picked up a Golf/Passat/New Beetle one at a car show for use after my respray, it's one base that includes radio, carphone and GPS antennas if you feel like upgrading your headunit in future. AKA a triplex antenna. Part number is 1J0 035 507:

I'm going to use the stubby antenna off a Sharan with it (7M0 035 849 E):

Beware that the triplex base has an M6 antenna thread instead of the M5 one on the stock antenna so you'll need a newer element to make it fit. I have a spare stock length antenna if you want it, I'm using this shorter one I found on a Mk3 Polo in a scrapyard. Looks a bit neater!
