christopher corrado 10 Posted March 12, 2013 Hi everyone, I have just joined the forum and have just bought my first corrado from a guy in Peterborough. What do you think?
James. 9 Posted March 12, 2013 Welcome aboard. The car has been through these doors before. Glad you brought it back. What's the plan then ? There's some serious 90's period features going there !
christopher corrado 10 Posted March 12, 2013 Ha ha what a small world it is! By period features do you mean the interior or exterior as well. This being my first one I'm not sure what to do to it, what would you suggest
James. 9 Posted March 12, 2013 The Corrado world is alarmingly small, and getting smaller by the day. Basically I'd lose the wheels, eye brow and exhaust. But then again it is your car after all, and I have a penchant for all things standard. What are the mechanicals like ?
Harrier 1 Posted March 12, 2013 Looks really nice & tidy, agree about the wheels though.
christopher corrado 10 Posted March 12, 2013 Yes I'm all for standard car's and also particularly dislike the wheels. So will be on the look out for a decent set soon. Mechanically it's all standard and really tidy. The engine and gearbox seem smooth, so fingers crossed it'll be a good one
doughboy 0 Posted March 12, 2013 These could be worth a look if you want to go back to standard: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/15inch-Estoril-Alloy-VW-Wheels-MK1-GTI-MK2-MK3-Golf-Corrado-Clipper-Rivage-/290875343236?pt=UK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Trims_Car_Rims_ET&hash=item43b9858184
christopher corrado 10 Posted March 12, 2013 Ok thanks for that doughboy. I would like to go for something less boy racer, so I'll keep an eye on these
Benjevw 10 Posted March 13, 2013 Welcome dude. Always had a thing for yellow ones! Looks in great condition! I work near Hemel on Saturdays so might cya around :) Ben
christopher corrado 10 Posted March 13, 2013 Cheers Ben, Yeh yellow one's have always done it for me too. I won't be hard to spot, so I'm sure I'll see you around the area
destructiv dave 0 Posted March 13, 2013 Sebrings should be the standard option wheels for your car. They are pretty cheap to buy though a little heavy and narrow from what I remember.
christopher corrado 10 Posted March 13, 2013 Thanks for that Dave. I think I might go for some vr6 alloys
destructiv dave 0 Posted March 13, 2013 Thanks for that Dave. I think I might go for some vr6 alloys VR6 alloys are 5-stud so obviously not a simple fit. Staying 4 stud does offer you a wide range of period wheels if that's the look you go for.
James. 9 Posted March 13, 2013 BBS RM for the win.
christopher corrado 10 Posted March 13, 2013 (edited) I didn't realise that they weren't compatible, so probably won't bother with them. bbs could be a good option though, if I can find some that don't require a refurb and don't cost more than the car's worth! christopher corrado 10 Posted March 17, 2013 Yep that's it, although I hadn't bought it yet when the pic was taken. The reason it was on a tow truck was because the alternator needed replacing
