Electric coolant pump

Recommended Posts

Noticed the other some coolant leakage coming from either the auxiliary coolant pump itself or the pipe/s that go into it. Thought to myself, oh bugger, that's only the 4th coolant leak I've had in just over a year.

Story so far:-

1st thermostat housing

2nd Coolant tube (actually part of it broke of when I replaced oil cooler seals)

3rd Oil Cooler pipe burst

and no this. Keep telling myself that I should be due a nice long spell of no problems with my VR but it never happens. Its just money, money, money.......... I may aswell get married to my car and be done with it!! :(

Anyway, back on track. So, I was having a wee look at it this morning and I turned the ignition on (not starting the engine) to see if the coolant would leak out when the electric pump was going. Bingo, pump aint working.

I'm guessing pump has gone bye bye bursting internals seals or something along those kinda lines. Hence its full of water in the electrics, hence it dont work no more.

I'm I on the right lines here??

How much for a new pump??

Any other ideas??

OH, and will I do it any harm running around without it working??

cheers

Don't we all! The Corrado will give you a month's peace at the very most, LOL!

What makes me laugh is the yo-yo relationships we have with them. One day we'll post something along the lines of "Wow, just tried this and that and the car's feckin excellent" and then the next day, "feckin heap, X Y and Z has broken or running badly" LOL!

Reminds me of an old girlfriend I used to split up and get back together with on a weekly basis!
