Subframe removal

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've removed both front wings, slam panel, crossmember and rad support to clean/paint and just wondered if I go one step further and remove my subframe, will the engine be ok supported by a beam across the wings? ie all the weight will be on the inner wings only.

Cheers.

Yep did just this but left the wings in situ when i removed my vr subframe last year.

Also wont do any harm to rest the engine on a few blocks too.

Cant remember

I dont think so as it was all taken off to be coated so must have been off at the same time.

I did mine with front bit in place. So still on the front mount. Then swapped and did the front with sub frame back on.

Also found it really easy for the beam holding the engine to slip off the wings. Which it did do a few times.
