Jim 2 Posted May 7, 2013 Weird one this. I need to reinsure my Corrado very soon now that I've switched from using it as a weekend car (insured with Classic Line) to my daily. I've tried the comparison sites and was just building myself up to calling the specialists very soon and thought I'd try my previous insurer who were Aviva. I'd done one year with my Octavia with them but the renewal was a significant price hike - then I sold it soon after anyway so just cancelled with them. However just stuck my Corrado details in, including modifications and 12,000 miles annual and was slightly stunned to come back with a premium of £360... So worth a punt. Don't discount some of the more well established companies - Aviva seem to offer great prices for new customers but as I say, renewal prices seem a bit out of whack. And bear in mind as they only recognise 5 years No Claims, if you come to them with any more than that, you'll lose it at the end of the year when they send out their 'proof of no claims' letter should you change insurer.... :|
pbradley98 0 Posted May 7, 2013 I had a similar experience with Admiral - as long as you only have a max of six types of mod... £295 for 8k and they go above 5 years NCB!
easypops 8 Posted May 7, 2013 I put my details into the comparison sites, and got it for £220 Flux direct.........only doing 4k miles though :)
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 8, 2013 Aviva seem to offer great prices for new customers but as I say, renewal prices seem a bit out of whack. Yeah that's their latest trick. "Hoik you in" with cheap prices and then sting you at renewal to recover their losses of from the cheap first year. But we're not stupid enough to blindly renew anymore. More and more big players are starting to see the Confused.com way of things (why pay expensive brokers?) but DirectLine are shooting themselves in the foot by shunning it. "You won't see us on any price comparison sites". Yeah, we won't see you AT ALL in 5 years if you keep that attitude up :D And bear in mind as they only recognise 5 years No Claims, if you come to them with any more than that, you'll lose it at the end of the year when they send out their 'proof of no claims' letter should you change insurer.... :| Who only recognises 5 years? Aviva? They can feck right off with that. Cheeky *******s.
