door pin rod, not sticking

I've found a rod for screwing the door pin on. It doesn't stay in the locking pin thing. Does it normally get glued in or is it just to worn and lose? There new on eBay, I haven't checked bag yet.

Theres a plastic retaining clip that joins the pin rod to the rod that goes to the locking mechanism. The one on my drivers side had snapped so I've kinda bodged it for now. Its all there, the pin just doesn't go fully up when open.

I've got all the right parts but the top bit you screw your pin into doesn't stay in the clip
