Mawrick 0 Posted January 12, 2014 I normaly work offshore, and work on a rotation of 2 weeks on 3 weeks off, 2 weeks on and then 4 weeks off - but now I got a offer/question to take a temporary position onshore for atleast 6 months (including having home office some days, as the position is in another city than I live) (covering for a guy that used to be my boss in the early days due to a stroke).....a bit torn between giving up on the "off periodes", but on the other hand it might be good experience to put on the CV - you guys have any thought/inputs....lol...:) In the end I guess I realy don't risk much as I'l go back to my current position eventually..... I'm working as a loging engineer offshore - doing downhole stuff, what will you do offshore yourself btw, and what you do in RAF today if I may ask?...... well - yes it does pay "right", so no worries about that, career wise I'm not sure, as I don't see myself going onshore anytime soon, but in the back of my mind I think that it might be an ok thing to have on the CV if I one day choose to get my feet back onshore.....I guess it would add value to my CV if not more....:) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Sean_Jaymo 0 Posted January 12, 2014 Adding to your cv is never going to be a bad thing, especially if your company thinks enough of you to temporarily promote you. I'm wanting to get into ROV piloting. I know a few people doing it as well as boroscope inspections for a few different companies. I'm currently an Aircraft Mechanical Technician doing specialised structures/composite repairs and modifications to the MOD's fixed wing fleet of aircraft. Mawrick 0 Posted January 12, 2014 Yea, guess it won't hurt anyway and I guess 6 months should run fast - even onshore :) (and it seem to be a job one can control pretty much your own working day) - but will figure out a bit more the coming week as I'l work alongside a collegue who currently hold the position - but he's going offshore again now after 10-11 months....:) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
