superchargedpolo 0 Posted May 26, 2004 I am about to get my camber and tracking checked on my 95 VR6. Can anyone tell me the acceptable camber and tracking tolerances set by VW. Thanks in advance Craig.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 26, 2004 Camber = minus 1.2 +/- 0.10 Tracking = 0.00 +/- 0.
dr_mat 0 Posted May 26, 2004 What about castor angle? And then sticky the thread? :)
superchargedpolo 0 Posted May 26, 2004 Glad to see the camber is on the negative side! Cheers for that.
PhatVR6 0 Posted May 26, 2004 castor isn't adjustable. unless you have top mounts like mine.
dr_mat 0 Posted May 26, 2004 The castor can be slightly out, due to the placing of the lower BJ, I've been told. Or do the bolts run in grooves, thereby limiting it's front/rear movement?
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 26, 2004 I've got all the settings at home somewhere, I'll double check them tonight. Vince sets the camber to 0.75 negative as he's found - 1.2 is too much and tends to eat the inside edges of tyres. I'm more than happy with the way my car feels after he set it up, so I'm not inclined to disagreeing with him! Assuming the BJs are new VAG ones, then the castor will be as specified and isn't adjustable without using pillow ball top mounts. Worn BJs might give you a slight castor error but you're talking 10ths of a minute and only under extreme braking and acceleration, where the wheels move back and forth *anyway*.....
