Joerrado 0 Posted March 25, 2014 I want to replace the manky old black tape that wraps up the bunches of cables in my engine bay. Anyone know what I can use to replace this? Looked on eBay for automotive electrical tape/wrap and other search headings but can't seem to find anything similar
seanl82 23 Posted March 25, 2014 Loom tape. Available from all good motor factors, and some not so good ones too!
dragon green 5 Posted March 25, 2014 Have a look on EBay,type in "fabric insulating tape" lots on there, some say,"as used by VW"
Jim Bowen 1 Posted March 25, 2014 I only use the fabric stuff inside the car. Thought it would get manky in the bay if getting wet and dirty.
Supercharged 2 Posted March 25, 2014 Not too pricey from VW
Tigerfish 10 Posted March 25, 2014 This is the stuff I'm using at the moment to redo my engine bay, I also have some narrower stuff for the smaller looms. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wiring-Loom-Harness-Adhesive-Cloth-Fabric-tape-19mm-25m-/180637405593?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a0ed41199
leon263 0 Posted March 25, 2014 I've used this tape with great results. It's a rubber tape as opposed to fabric, has no adhesive on it and simply self amalgamates (sticks to itself) when you wrap it on. Being rubber it stretches and is great for getting round odd bends, joints etc in the loom. Once amalgamated it is totally waterproof. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Self-Amalgamating-Tape-rubber-sealing-Repair-Satalite-10m-Roll-car-Fusing-/291080876338?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Other&hash=item43c5c5b132
