Sean_Jaymo 0 Posted April 25, 2014 Easy fix, there is a resistor on the fan unit itself that burns out. Swap it for a 70p maplin resistor and job done. I'm on my phone so can't help anymore. Stick vw fan resistor into Google and see what you think.
Hawkesybaby 10 Posted April 25, 2014 Awesome! Thanks! Is the motor easily got to or is it a dash out jobby??? Thanks
Jim 2 Posted April 25, 2014 Easy. You need to remove the plastic trim underneath the glovebox and around the footwell. The heater motor is on the left hand side - will possibly have a Valeo sticker on it and you should see a four cable square electrical connector attached to it. There is a tab / latch you'll need to release which is, rather awkwardly, round the back but then you just turn it (can't remember whether it's anti or clockwise) and it just drops out. Hawkesybaby 10 Posted May 12, 2014 There is a Diavia sticker on my door sill! but it still looks different than the one i have.... it was only held in with one screw it didnt look to fit well basically? This is annoying as whats gone from a cheap easy fix to a possible new blower motor haha old cars ay! Any more for any more???
fla 9 Posted May 12, 2014 Yes, that's a diavia one. if it came out easily then it wasn't fitted properly! It is a nightmare to remove and then refit - you need to make sure it seals properly else all the air from the fan will blow through the gap between the plastic flange and the housing of the air handling unit. They're not the best at moving great volumes of air at the best if times hence why it is important to minimise leakage.
