is there an easy way to get the door seal to sit back into the channel on the top of the door

Start from the front when refitting. Use some washing up liquid to help it slide on. Press it from the front to the back using the palm of your hand to spread the force. Take your time!

 

Edit:I assume you mean the rubber seal outside for the window?
