Swompy 0 Posted June 26, 2014 Just wondering if anyone on here does archery? Thinking of selling my bow as I don't use it anymore just want to see if it's worth posting on here about it
BILLCOR 1 Posted June 26, 2014 My 11yo son took it up last year, the wife took him along and she was gonna sit and read until he was finished as it was a 20 min drive each way, she ended up getting talked into having a go, they both now have their own bows and go every week
Ray1965 10 Posted June 26, 2014 What bow have you got? i know someone who does it at competition level. I was looking into it not so long back tbh.
Swompy 0 Posted June 27, 2014 I knew there would be some one on here.:) I have a Browning olympian bow that I'm thinking of selling. Aluminum riser with carbon and wood layered limbs adjustable draw weight of between 32-39 pounds. Pretty much every thing included that would get you into this sport (arm guard, finger tab, stabilisers and weights, quiver, sight and many more buts)
Ray1965 10 Posted June 27, 2014 (edited) Lol. thats sounds very high tech to me. I guess thats not a beginners bow then? Also sounds expensive. As i know nothing about archery  Me and the Mrs had a go when on holiday and i thought this is not bad. (oh and the wife was better than me as well, :smug: i let her win....i did honest). Swompy 0 Posted June 27, 2014 Haha no it's not really a beginners bow more of a step up, but nothing stopping it being used as one just take the fancy bits off. Im only after £200 for it but that includes everything you'll need to get into the sport. Only thing you'll need is arrows as the ones I had are broken. I can get a photo if everything if you want
davidwort 0 Posted June 27, 2014 if it was a cross-bow I'd be interested, bloody magpies waking me up at 4.30 in the morning every day, I've tried an air-rifle but they hear me cocking it! :2gunfire:

I can ask the guy i know about it he could be interested.
Swompy 0 Posted June 27, 2014 Haha haven't seen that smiley for ages. The the sight is pretty much brand new only used it a few times (cost £30 I believe) I missed a target once and got a arrow stuck half way through a 2" fence post :D
mic_VR 3 Posted June 27, 2014 I've got to ask, do you need a licence for that thing? Talk about one dangerous looking piece of kit!
Swompy 0 Posted June 27, 2014 (edited) The scary thing is you don't! If I can put an arrow half way through a 2" bit of wood it's going to go straight through a person!!!!! Same for a.compound bow or crossbow . They are even more powerful but still no license needed Ironically you need a certificate/license to buy any airsoft gun (glorified BB gun) that isn't painted a bright colour! vornwend 0 Posted June 27, 2014 Tempted - How much was it new Jake? How much are arrows and where do you go to use it??
Swompy 0 Posted June 28, 2014 I got the bow about a year ago for the same money but that was just the bow. Haven't a clue how much it is new. Arrows from Wales archery specialist in chepstow would cost £40 for 6 I believe I would.imagine there are clubs on your side of the river you can go to. I'll have a look later for some links to send you.
