Vr6 not firing once warm

Evening all, just lately after a decent run once i switch my engine off and go to restart there's nothing, the ignition lights come on and then when i turn the key a bit further i get nothing. If i leave the car for say 20 mins to cool down she fires up perfect! Any ideas thanks

If you can check it on Vagcom I'd say that's your first step, but sounds a bit like crank sensor, although generally it'll cut out when warm. Not always the case obviously as deferent degrees of breakdown will give different symptoms, but that's certainly a possibility imo.

When you try to start when hot does the engine crank over but fail to start or does it fail to crank full stop?
