VR6 bit stuttery when warm

Recommended Posts

Hello people,

Has anyone got any ideas why my vr stutters (holdin back on the power) sometimes when warm, any places or sensors that may cause this? Its fine when its cold though

Could this be a dodgy injector? if so how would i check? or I'm sure i read somewhere on here about the crank sensor loosin its like (cant think of the word) once it gets hot if its old.

My car is due to go to stealth in july but would rather sort this out now if anyone has any ideas?

Hall sender could also be the problem, this sensor can cause a large drop in power(up to 30bhp). Have you got loss in power?? or does it just stutter a bit then go like the clappers?

Best thing is to get you car plugged into VAG COM and see if anything flags up.

It does seem down on power, spose the best and only thing to do is get it plugged into a vagcom machine and see if any faults come up.

Its fine for first ten/fifteen mins of driveing though, then gets worse, feeling like its holding back stuttering mainly when ya floor it.

always somethin :(

Could been lambda sensor too along with many others. Vagcom machine is a definite, the quickest, easiest and cheapest (well maybe, most VW garages charge about £20, more in big cities) way to find out exactly whats wrong with it.

P.S. Yup, there is always something. Not trying to put you off, but it took me ages to find out what was wrong with mine. Intermitant signal from the hall sender was the culprit. It lost resolution when warm and any other random time it felt like it.

Cheers Timo, Will get it looked at tommorrow sometime. hopefully is a quick and easy sensor :)

Did your intermitant hall sender problem come up on vagcom?

No problems come up on vagcom,

so after closer inspection one of the leads looked a bit dodgy and wasent on properly, so have replaced leads and done plugs while i was at it. I think one of the plug leads wasent pushed back on properly, when it had rocker cover gasket replaced a month or so ago. Thats when i first started gettin the stutters as it was. but got worse lately/

damm garage

Fixed now though. :D

Have you had ya car rollin roaded since fittin yours? would love to know the torque/bhp that they deliver.

Thats a nice price, well for a shrek anyway. If he still has it in July (sure he wont :( ) will make an offer then, but wanna keep my money till my engine has had the all clear from stealth and had the timing chain/tensioner/clutch done. Also desperiatly need new suspension, My tired Spax sport kit is so harsh and horrible.

Would be an ideal time to throw the shrek in to minimise on labour costs .....

And if i bought that, does that then mean i need the shrek cams??? if so, how much are they, and spose its worth gettin all them done at same time, saves on labour :D

You don't need the cams..... you can add those at a later date.......but yeah, saving on labour is always a good thing!
