Thursdave 10 Posted November 13, 2014 Hi folks. I've got the carpets out of my G60 at the moment drying off after a heater matrix leak - used the opportunity to give them a bloody good wash. While I was removing the carpets, I noticed that the sound proofing / underlay (andele andele arriba arriba!) was sopping wet, so I've thrown it out. Typically, I know find replacements aren't available. What do people use to replace the underfelting? I can get the rubbery soundproofing, but the thick foam felt/matting stuff appears to be elusive to me. Any tips? Dave

Thursdave 10 Posted November 13, 2014 Brilliant! How's that for timing? Fortunately my carpet itself is alright. Pressure washer, fabric cleaner, then carpet black and it's looking as good as new. :)
geoffersmaher 10 Posted November 22, 2014 I used an eco flooring underlay. Works bloody well an car is ace on the motorways. An keeps sound in too. I'll find out exactly what it is. But 40 quid is about 3 cars worth lol

But 40 quid is about 3 cars worth lol There's a really good quality dense rubber underlay available from Amazon for about 45 quid, similar stuff I bet, a great big roll about 20 sq m iirc, with soundproofing you need mass and that stuff is great and great value too
clumpy1 11 Posted November 22, 2014 The only issue is the leak's that can appear without you even knowing. I used a Carpet underlay on mine (double thickness) and taped down with proper Heavy duty Duct tape. But mine is very rarely out in the rain with other's it may be different.
