Wayne2015 10 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) Hi 1st time Corrado owner bought literally this Tuesday ... Drove away from buyer and car broke down :( Unable to get into gear - RAC arrives. Apparently driving in heavy traffic and holding clutch overheats the system! RAC man suggests: Put in neutral when ever stopped. And look into Clutch Slave Cylinder! So boughg it on the spot. Hopefully nothing major in the comings weeks - eeek!

Wayne2015 10 Posted February 5, 2015 :D phew, glad it wasnt the rado! Phew - glad i got that clarified too! Oh, Also the headlight is held by 2 brackets with screws on top? One of the brackets is snapped off - so one headlight is wobbly held by one bracket screw :(
Wayne2015 10 Posted February 5, 2015 Just answering Jim s question "blue smoke?" Just to clarify (again :) ... Seller seem genuine. Him and family really nice people :) I fully test driven car but forgot some basics: 1. Check oil 2. Oil cap Mayo 3. Check crash potentials 4. Engine/VIN on car 5. Everything works So RAC top up oil for me - lol I found cabin directional ventilation knob not work If see blue smoke - RUN! Well Car failed previous MOT due to excessive emission. Seller said new coil pack fixed problem. But colleague at work noticed smoke/smell at work. I didnt noticed - but ocassional stationery I can smell strong emission in cabin. And today blue-ish smoke from rear (only for a few minutes whilst setting off)...
seanl82 23 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) Rog Chatfield is still a mod on the CRX OC iirc. A few I know have come a soft spot for a Corrado too! CCoincidentally, I had a little play with a CRX on Tuesday as well. Nothing in it tbf, little pocket rockets those things! With regard to the hheadlight, there is a third screw accessed by a long Philips Screwdriver in the slam panel in the middle area of the headlight. There are always things to do but hopefully nothing terminal for you. Where are you located? As far as a service goes, I'm sure someone close by will give you a hand and show you the basics for a bacon butty! Parts and fluids can be had relatively cheaply so be a shame to fork out for something that's easily achieved by an enthusiastic diy'er, once shown how. :thumbleft: Oh, and directional dials are very common problems indeed. Unfortunately there's no easy, or certainly not cheap fix. If the teeth on the dial mech have broke, second hand ones arch fetching around £90! The cause is usually a stiff bowden cable though, so just replacing the dials will also kill them in short order. Bowden cable replacement is much more fiddly and time consuming. Hairyarse 10 Posted February 5, 2015 Ref the loose headlight, as well as the two brackets on the top, if you look down the hole in the slam panel, kind of inbetween the two headlight mounts, there's a screw down in the bottom that fixes the rear of the light unit. I think these are often missing, if it is then replacing this screw and just one on the top MAY be enough to stop it wobbling. ;)
Hairyarse 10 Posted February 5, 2015 Ooops ditto Sean lol
Wayne2015 10 Posted February 5, 2015 Cheers Sean + Hairy Happy to folk out on messy jobs to a garage :) But fiddly ones like headlights / heating controls I like to tackle myself Yes. The CRX heating panel were also going for around £90 too :( My had the JDM bronze glass roof - loved that! Unfortunately mine was an auto - but had acquired parts (gearbox, mounts, pedal box, clutch cable etc) for a manual conversion .. ...sadly due to personal circumstances had to sell the CRX. So now ended up with the Corrado. Much MORE room in back for my 2 sons :) Certainly not LOUD for school runs - lol Er, hopefully she don't leak too :( I know I spent considerable amount of time cleaning the Preludes sunroof water drains, the outlet of those drains in the boot and making new gaskets (water seals) for rear lights. By the way. I couldn't check if the rear arches of the corrado were rusty or not from inside the boot. How do u check?
sankysvr6 0 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) You could take it to your local Kwik fit, for a oil and filter change. Just take your own oil filter down, and tell them to put some semi synthetic 10W/40 oil in it and not the fully synthetic stuff. The Kwik fit on legrams lane are decent enough guys. Shouldn't cost you more the 30/40. I also know really good welder, so PM if you want his details. Edited February 5, 2015 by sankysvr6

Tigerfish 10 Posted February 5, 2015 Re: the heater control. Mine doesn't work properly (seems to skip teeth and spin round, but nowt happens) unless I switch the blower off. If I switch the blower off, it works perfectly. Not a fix as such, but might help as a temporary measure.

Any fixes? Also Trying to work out the rear centre arm rest? When u unclip it to pull up and forward (facing front) - what's the purpose for that? seanl82 23 Posted February 5, 2015 Not advertised for Corrado but someone else on here mentioned them being the same part number and being perfect, so I bought a set and I can confirm, they are perfect. Cheap too! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271713638194?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
