g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted February 13, 2015 BAD news! VERY BAD NEWS :( :( :( Chris just rung 1. No coilover keys to increase height 2. Oil leak 3. Radiator leak ££££££ ?????? EEEEEEK! dont panic Mr Mannering! coilover adjustment - probably just need a standard C spanner oil leak - where from? - could just be a tiny seal radiator leak - rads are not that expensive but the labour would be a few hours. its not that tough a job but a tad scary once you have the front end off in bits lol (i changed mine myself & managed to get one of the last genuine VW ones) FYI i would recommend NOT using any rad seal or similar product though! IIRC i believe the VR has very small channels in the block which are designed to circulate the coolant & using a rad seal type product can cause these to get blocked & effect the cooling system have you asked them to look at your running gear? IE CV boots/joints, drop links, tie rod ends, wishbone bushes, rear beam bushes etc from my experience it is those type of jobs that can be expensive as they are pretty labour intensive & as with cars of such ages time can be burnt just trying to get the damn things apart lol
sankysvr6 0 Posted February 13, 2015 Post a picture of the coilovers, I might have a c spanner in the garage you could borrow.

Wayne2015 10 Posted February 13, 2015 Cheers guys And thanks for offer of spanners, But Its not going to help me on the road :( The STALLING will continue and i do NOT want to drive it risking my kids lives :( :( :( Its come back with like £200+ fix for the stalling - but parts needs to be ordered. My mini tour down south has been torpedoed now :( Will have to drive the Prelude now. Great car with 4WS :) But the plan was to drive the Corrado :( :( :(
Wayne2015 10 Posted February 13, 2015 HUGE oil leak! But nothing drips on floor! Sump plug / sump WHACKED! So not sure if sump plug will screw back in??? Coolant leak from radiator See middle top left corner of rad? Exhaust hanging lose (clip broke) Coilovers

Hairyarse 10 Posted February 13, 2015 Don't be too down-hearted Wayne. At least you've got answers to some of the problems now and the Prelude looks tidy :thumbleft:
sankysvr6 0 Posted February 13, 2015 Prelude looks good, probably have less fun with things not going wrong with it . What's happening with the Corrado then? Is that still at the garage having the work done or is all that on hold for now
Wayne2015 10 Posted February 13, 2015 Cheers guys! Garage going to source all the parts and hopefully fix within the next week (1/2 term). Aftermarket radiator (no more from VW) New sump New lambda sensor 4 wheel alignment (apparently my front wheels are angled for track racing?) Tigerfish 10 Posted February 13, 2015 Just make sure they do the coil over height before messing with setting up geometry, other wise you'll have to do the fronts again. I don't believe there is anything to adjust on the back unless they think the subframe has moved??

I don't believe there is anything to adjust on the back unless they think the subframe has moved?? Cheers Tiger The garage do not have the alignment equipment. But he did say He would do the coilovers first Then take it round to a local garage with 4 wheel alignment equipment - this local garage also would straighten the front ANGLED wheels the back wheels got spacers (hence sticking out of arches) - hence rubbing into wheel arches and cutting into tyres But garage also said the spacers looked THICK So possibly if removed the wheel then may hit the inside of the wheel arches/coils :(
Wayne2015 10 Posted February 15, 2015 Well School 1/2 Term mini tour in my Prelude (no Corrado as planned :( ) Hooked up with a fellow Prelude forum member in Southampton :) Then met Seanl82 (the really nicest most helpful top guy one can ever meet!)
