Rained all night (not too heavy, but heavy enough to test sunroof leak)

 

 

 

No leaks so far.

But obviously can see daylight in sunroof seal ...

Glad theres no leaks. We have a problem at work with a loading shovel the cab is leaking can't pinpoint the leaks next is to set a smoke bomb off in the cab.

Certainly i know my sunroof leaked when i used a hosepipe to rinse the car

So next step is to either remove sunroof panel to check all drains

Or wait for a replacement Passat moonroof then check drains then ...

Weather today from hot sunny but windy,

To heavy torrential rain :eek:

 

 

But got out to have a THIRD go at removing this:

 

Rear coat hooks:

1. First go: push up with force - nope :(

2. 2nd go: whacked with mallet - nope :eek:

3. Now: prise with flat blades and push up - nope :shocked!:

 

 

Got fed up so tried twisting it - have i broken the brass hook underneath?

 

I just think IMPOSSIBLE to separate brass hook underneath from hook :(

After forcing a screw driver wedged between plastic hook and screw fixing underneath...

 

 

U CANNOT simply push up and remove the hook! :eek:

U have to separate the bottom of the hook from the screw fixing first, THEN u can push up and remove...

I wouldn't pay too much attention to that, it's for American cars. If you have 93 or later car it's a vr6. Otherwise if you have a 92 VR6 with the early interior it's the g60 mentioned. There are very few vr6's with the early interior, I used to have one and only knew of a handful of other ones.

 

That link talks about the cars spoiler providing down force. It doesn't, not even a little bit. It's designed to reduce lift which is the opposite of providing down force. 70mph in pretty much any production car is too slow for any kind of aero down force to be achieved.

I agree - rear spoiler a bit of gimmick - but I like to make full use of it to show off :lol: ;)

wow 101 pages !!! and this will be 102 lol, good effort keep at it! with your leaky sunroof , i found mine to leak in the same area after i reassembled it, with it being tilted open you could see the rear drain channel wasnt quite centered with the gap, so anything passing the seal across the back edge wasnt being collected, that channel is part of the interior sunroof panel just make sure its pushed/slid towards the front as far as possible, as it does slide toward the rear taking the drain channel with it, i guss there should be catch to stop it.

My roof is broken - took a few hours before I found out how to close the broken tilt sunroof :eek:

 

I not touching that again until I have the C in the garage! :D

 

 

 

Member MPzog and myself played about with his spare sunroof.

And realised that the sunroof headliner is part of the drainage system too!

 

My initial plans was to remove the sunroof headliner to access the drains better and try to poke some wires into the drain pipes - but if I remove that sunroof headliner that means rain water leaking thru the BACK of the sunroof will just leak into the cabin :shocked!:

I have rushed and bought these now:

Have also bought replacement wing mirror glass,

as mine are severely corroded from the edges,

and the driver mirror is very poor coverage to almost dangerous! :eek:

Read somewhere someone had same problem (heating not work).

He just remove mirrors and gave 'corroded' heated contacts a good clean! :thumb right:

 

Might save u a few pennies/time if that is the problem with yours ...

Really nice work on the mirrors, looking great!

This is something I need to do myself, but I'm not to sure about getting the normal ones or the blue versions.

Did you notice any differences besides the look of them?

 

One positive thing I can imagine, is that the lights of others are less irritating at night.
