White VR6 in Windy Yorkshire! :)

Recommended Posts

Wayne, that bulb you repairing what's on the end of the wire, is it a spade connector?

As I'm sure all you needed was a new H3 bulb

Hi Sanky

Yes - AFTER fixing the fogs, I been told all I need was a new H3 bulb which CAME with the bulb holder (and it was the bulb holder corroded that I was trying to fix)!!! :(

Only TWO months I been thinking how to fix it ...

Tried several times failed...

My DIY skills/mentality never ceases to impress even myself - eeeek!

Lol

I used to be a National Lottery machine installer.

That Magic Roundabout was on my patch - nightmare to get on, nightmare to get off - and for those new to it, they can never leave the damn thing! :) :) :)

Cool

If its Earl Grey you want give me plenty of notice.

I only drink Yorkshire Tea (thought that may be your thing too - haha)

And no .... once you know it its ace - approach and look in all directions then take the path (road) of least resistance! So many ways you can cross it and avoid traffic

Ok Front and rear brakes fitted (Callipers, Carriers, discs, pads and braided hoses - all of which I supplied) , 2 x New tyres supplied and fitted (Bridgstone RE002s), Tracking done, Heat shield welded up, Full underside check (apparently excellent) Total cost including Mk3 Calliper refurb and paint (black) - £520 - didn't think that was too bad although its beans on toast for the next 3 weeks.

No mate all the parts were on top of that. Over the weekend I will post a full list inc parts and cost of each so you can get a full costs of doing front and rears brakes - looks really good with the larger black callipers mind - now saving up for the B12s as skint now! If only I was handier - need to learn! I believe fitting brakes is fairly straight forward but was nervous about the bleeding and re-filling of brake and clutch system - none of my mates round here know anything about cars so no one to show me the ropes!

Rough guide

All performance hoses (Front, back and middle £115

Front callipers and sliders inc reurb and painting = £130

Front brembo discs = £80

Front pads = £35

Back callipers pagid(new) = £140

Rear Brembo discs = £50

Rear Pads = £25

Fitting was approx. 120 front and 120 rear

So I guess the total costs front and rear was close to £820

Sure it could all be done cheaper but went for goodridge hoses which are the most expensive and went for decent discs etc - not necessarily the best but good enough for me!

Oil & filter plus labour charge and bearing in mind disposal of old oil. £100 seems about the going rate these days to be honest though I agree it's pricey.

£120 per axle to remove and refit brake calipers, disks and pads is mental! I'm in the wrong job!!!!!!

Kwik fit charge around £50 for an oil and filter change.

And if your friendly with them, they will put your oil filter and oil in for about £30

You don't need to use a specialist for everything, brakes and oil changes can be done by any competent garage.
