White VR6 in Windy Yorkshire! :)

Recommended Posts

hmmmm, looking at that, looks like I have a mk2 golf switch in mine too

Welcome to the Golf thread, pal!

Same switch, different front just as susceptible to catching fire when the internals break down with age if you have the standard wiring circuit.

Damn! :(

It runs straight from the switch down over the top of the fusebox iirc Wayne. It's not too difficult if your careful to replace the whole loom. JusJust trace the loom to the block on the fusebox (top right iirc). Slide the fuse block retaining bar across, pull out block and remove. Refitting is reverse of removal mate. Well worth doing judging by the state of that cable!

Thanks Sean! :thumbleft:

Rained overnight ...

The sunroof leaks this morning :( :( :(

From driver drain tube...

Is it safe to disconnect the drain tubes (attached to sunroof),

Pull it off and poke a coat hanger in???

Will anything break by taking it off?

Or it s supposed to leak?

Lots of rain - but i wouldnt say its heavy ...

Yes mate . Remove the pipe and use a sturdy but flexible piece of plastic push the dirt out .

Is that just the drain holes?

Or the actual drain tubes?

If tubes - then how long piece of flexible plastic i need?

It won't melt if you have the upgrade headlight loom fitted.

Better fit mine then

I got my switch dangling out of the dash now,

if any smoke comes from that wire - then I will know immediately!

I knew racing cars had fire extinguishers

Not quite why some people have them in their old cars - now i know!

Which ones do people have in their cars these days?

And a fire extinguisher holder?

I will just drive faster in the hope the fire will be blown out lol

Lol

I can imagine ...

Traffic cops sat side of road,

Then WOOOOOSH a cloud of smoke flashes past the cop car,

Cop 1: what was that?

Cop 2: was it superman? Lewis hamilton? UFO?

Offender sat in the back: No, its a Corrado on fire

Wayne take that loom out and replace with a new loom that's not in that state that has a inline fuse in..

Only sensible option.

Re the tubes , remove the sunroof ends . Just slide them off the fittings , they will be tight . I think from memory a 8mm tubular plastic can be used .

Cheers bud for advice!

Waiting to put in the upgraded headlight loom!

And hopefully with longer days - no need to use that switch for a while!

Besides - nothing on eBay ref loom replacement :(

Can you not try some thick or heavy duty electrical wire?

Preferably with the plastic coating on it?

The Bentley manual recommends you use the cores from a speedometer cable.

Hope this helps.
