coullstar 0 Posted November 10, 2015 Lol that's quite funny as I didn't like the 997 interior as the dash was to square and it didn't seem like a Porsche. It just felt like any generic sportscar inside. Slightly agree on the asthetics hence why I went for the C4s but then the 997 C2 was quite uninspiring that I tried. Horses for course an all that. ChrisL 17 Posted November 10, 2015 Not wanting to seem too smug but I actually own a 2005 997 Carerra S and a Corrado G60 (among other cars). I don't think its very useful comparing the two performance wise. Obviously the 997 would leave the G60 standing but the Corrado is a much more useable car for regular use. Even though I am ultra careful with all my cars I simply would not park the 997 on the street or leave it unsupervised for very long in the multi storey car park. Also other than changing the oil and filter a 997 requires more specialised servicing than a regular Corrado so from a DIY standpoint the Porsche is not much good. I would not change a Corrado for a Porsche 996 however. The 996 in my opinion is a very dull car aesthetically in the exterior and especially the interior. Pictures of said Porsche please.... Bullfinch 0 Posted November 10, 2015 911 currently in for its service and my loan car for 2 days is a Panamera. It's only the base diesel spec model but even so it does shift with the PDK gearbox. Mind you I think I need an HGV licence to drive something this big! I've now got to the age when any car with a PDK or DSG gearbox is the one I'd go for on an everyday basis as commuting is so start-stop anywhere close to the M25. G60MAT 0 Posted November 12, 2015 Having recently driven 3 Porsches, I'll throw my thoughts in.... Porsche 994 S2 3.0 70K - An alleged pampered collectors car - Ok it had the blue interior which I’m not a fan of but the drive was one on the most disappointing drives for a long time, sluggish down the road and felt like stirring thick soup! Porsche 996 C2 3.4 early spec 100k – Again a poor interior this time in grey which has not aged well, however in black or another colour would have a nice retro look to it. As for the drive, surprisingly good, lots of power and a rapid car indeed despite clearly needing new tyres on slightly damp road! A nice rasp from the (standard) exhaust and a great drive all in. Cayman S 3.4 90k – A very pleasant cabin indeed but VERY little room, a quick car and seemed shorter geared than the 996, however massive engine noise intrusion into the cabin, you are aware that the engine is right behind the seats ALL the time, I like a shouty engine but imagine this would drain on a long journey. Clearly a great drivers car and attracted far more the attention than the others, but very limited practicality… ... think I'll try a few more 996... LOL What's interesting is so many Corrado owners aspire to 911 ownership at some point. I can see why though. Both cars are pretty much the cream of the VAG group for enthusiasts. I used to love 911s but kind of lost the bug when they started doing so many incremental updates. I love the looks of the 993 wide body, but to drive I found it a bit bland. It is a unique feeling the way 911s hold the road though. Not driven anything quite like it since. Having said that, there is currently one 911 that has reignited my interest in them..... but it's too expensive! Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
coullstar 0 Posted November 12, 2015 The more I drive mine the more I love it, there certainly not something you can jump in and drive flat out straight away.
