alex.brown45 10 Posted July 28, 2015 Hey Guys, first let me start by stating I own a copy of the Bentley manual for the corrado, and I also have thoroughly read every post I can find about the active spoiler and still cannot seem to figure out why my spiller goes up but never returns back to its rest position, the motor operates up just fine but doesn't come down with the switch or when I come to a stop, I checked the rear spoiler switches for continuity and I have it when the switch is closed, I tried replacing the spoiler "module" still no dice, I think I have a fault with the module but I'd appreciate any and all advice! dragon green 5 Posted July 28, 2015 Have you stripped,cleaned and greased the mechanism ? Have you stripped,cleaned the spoiler motor ? These cars are well over twenty years old now,the mechs & motors will need cleaning,this could well be your problem ! alex.brown45 10 Posted July 28, 2015 I rebuilt the entire mechanism........ except the motor, greased everything, I was sold it was a rear spoiler switch until I tested them this morning and they checked out. But I didn't think the motor itself could be the issue because the motor operates up (on car) with out an issue but doesn't even try to retract, where as most who experience this issue and need a rebuild are experiencing popped fuses, hesitation and binding, on the bench I was able to get it to operate in both directions, I read the how too rebuild the motor and mechanism and if it has resolved issues in the past I suppose it's worth a whirl, will update with what I find after a good cleaning! seanl82 23 Posted July 28, 2015 Get a multimeter on the mech when in situ, and get someone to operate the button. That'll rule out the switch and wiring for sure, which will only really leave you with the mech or motor as the culprit. Does it seem stiff retracting it on the manual butterfly shaped nob thingy? alex.brown45 10 Posted July 28, 2015 It's not like hot knife in butter smooth but it's not double wrenching stiff either, I have had two corrodo's, and it feels what I would consider normal, especially for something this old, as far as electrical diagnosis, there are 3 switches in the circuit, the manually operated switch in the kick panel left of the cluster and the two rear switches that are connected to the motor, I checked the rear switches this morning for continuity, and my results where as follows: With the white button open (not depressed) my multimeter read ol for both switches With the white button closed (depressed) I had continuity. So to me that says my rear switches assuming installed correctly in their respective places are functioning as normal, I can also hear them click when the spoiler reaches the fully open or fully retracted positions, But back to The switch in the kick panel. This is where some confusion comes in to play, what I have found is that when I manually direct the switch to raise the spoiler it bypasses the module and sends power directly to the rear motor and sends the spoiler up, and when I return that switch to its rest position the spoiler doesn't move, My theory here is I thought by returning the switch to its rest spoiler down position it would/should send power from the black/blue-tracer to the green/white tracer which would send the spoiler back down, however with the switch at rest I only have power coming to the switch at the black/blue tracer it doesn't leave? Which kind of leads me to think that switch is my problem, and in the Bentley it shows the switch in the kick panel as a relay? On a side note I have two spoiler modules and both act the same way and don't resolve or change anything, I jumped the one of the two relays in the "module" and was able to get the wing again to go up but no matter how I jump the relay it won't send the spoiler down which also has lead me to believe I have a faulty module? dragon green 5 Posted July 29, 2015 You have 2 wires on your mech.disconnect them.run a known live and a good live to the two terminals, if nothing happens,reverse the wires,spoiler should go up.Reverse wires again,spoiler should go down.if spoiler doesn't go down,it's your motor/mechanism ! MZpog 10 Posted July 29, 2015 I'd be suspecting one of the switches in the mech if it goes up auto but wouldn't retract auto, however you suggest it doesn't retract on the switch too. alex.brown45 10 Posted April 9, 2016 I have been off tapatalk for a good while now, but i thought i would update every one who lent a hand with my spoiler dilemma an update with my progress! My spoiler works as it should again! My troubles where indeed in the spoiler module/switch in the kickpanel! The springs internal in the mechanism where too weak to make good contact. After rebuildin. It it started to function but not quite perfect. So i purchased 2 new used switches and one of them ended up fixing me issue. Thanks again guys.
