Recommended Posts

Hi All

I have an r32 that's been sat in storage for a few years now.

I am looking to 4wd it, is there anyone out there that can do it / you guys recommend????

Thanks in advance James

I suspect it may be too big a job for most, even the well known specialists. But you wouldn't go wrong talking to John Mitchell Racing / JMR if you wanted to consider such a project!

I've seen some very good work come out of HR Engineering, I've seen him do a 4x4 caddy 1.8t, a few space frame mk1 golfs, mid engine stuff etc. that all look very well engineered

They are near Saffron Walden in Essex, just up the road from me, some weird thing sat out the front, not quite sure what it is, looks like a rally truck.

That Harvey Rice does turn out some nice gear. One of the things I've been thinking about with my do I/don't I 911 conundrum is building my Corrado into a 4wd turbo monster...

Appealing isn't it?

Very. The only thing that puts me off is when Corrado prices go through the roof, my OEM++ is easily reversible to cash in

it would be a true giant slayer. the only thing that stops me going for more power is the traction/ transmission restrictions :D

I like the idea of 4wd, to be honest I like the idea of rwd better. My mate is doing a 4x4 mk2 golf at the moment so going to see how he gets on then have a think. Gone are the days of finding a rallye/syncro boot floor and simply welding it in so its not so OEM which I don't like. I've read about people using bmw e36 stuff to go rwd which would be massively fun but a lot of work and would be past the no turning back stage.

I wouldn't bother personally. All it adds is weight and more things to go wrong.

I still fancy a RWD mid-engined space-frame Corrado, Harvey Rice would be my first point of call after the lottery win.

S3 Quattro not a viable option? I know it would be a massive amount of work but more OEM(ish) choice?

Would the benefit of better traction/transmission not offset the gain in weight Hummuh?

Give me a bell at MDM Technik! Got to finish my VR6 storm first, then a 500 BHP MK1 Focus RS, Restoring a 2.7T Allroad and a submerged Bentley GT but right up my street.

Hi, have a look at our website

http://www.johnmitchellracing.co.uk and then a look at my 4x4 Corrado 16V Turbo build. Then give me a call during work hours at the Workshop 01903 718684. What you want is what we specialise in. I would love to hear all about your project. I look forward to hearing from you. Regards, John
