Progress so far!! VR6 Rebuild (picture heavy)

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I posted in the new members section a few weeks back. I'm a returning customer to a Corrado and this is my second VR6 (shouldn't of sold the last one).

Engine is on 180k miles and the head gasket had gone. Timing chains luckily for me were done at 170k. Below are some pictures I have taken along the way.

I have replaced all gaskets, sanded, cleaned up and painted both the head and the crank case. I have also cleaned up and painted the inlet manifold, rocker cover and oil filter housing. The pistons were covered in carbon build up and general crap. I have painstakingly cleaned as much as I can to get as cleaner finish as possible.

Now the engine is near enough finished I have moved on to the engine bay where I will clean off all the surface rust from the metal, I will tidy up all the cables and pretty much everything else in the bay.

Hoping to have her on the road looking perfect by March 2016 :)
