high idle

Recommended Posts

Been having a problem with my G60, usually happens when cold, but the car wants too idle at 2000!!!! Which can be quite embarrassing, sometimes cures if i take my foot off the clutch , but not all the time. Its started to do it while im changing gear which is somethin i aint happy about, especially as im takin it to inters this year! Hope it lasts.....

Any help would be welcome!

Cheers

Yeah sounds like a sticky ISV ( Idle stabilisation valve) Its the vdo unit that sits at the back of the rocker cover you cant miss it it's got a plug with 2 wires going into the left hand side and a hose that links onto the the inlet manifold and a black pipe that comes out of the right hand side that goes into the boost return pipe. To clean it disconnect it undo the jubilee clip at the inlet side and pull the hose off that goes to the boostreturn pipe, get some degreaser something like carb, cleaner gunk or similar spray loads in cover up both hole and give it a good shake empty it out and repeat until no more black shite comes out of it that should clear it and hopefully solve your problem!!! :D
