G60Dan 0 Posted July 1, 2004 I bought a new one from VW as mine isn't at all accurate. Here it is: My question/problem is, on my current one the cable connects to it via a spade connector, but the new one (as you can see) doesn't?? Is it the wrong one? Do I need to do something to it? The Current on looks somehthing like this : Help!! I have someone coming to view the car tonight & would like it sorted!! Thanks Dan
biggrim 0 Posted July 1, 2004 On the right of the top pic the sensor has a flat disc. The spade connector slides over it a locks into place. You might have to change the spade connector but you might be ok.
andycowuk 0 Posted July 1, 2004 grim...u r totally correct. I would put a new spade on anyway...and possible cut back the current wire and renew the end if its looking crap
Eug 0 Posted July 1, 2004 Is this an easy job to replace if I need to ? My oil temp comes and goes ... in fact it could be the end that needs cleaning come to think of it.
Henny 0 Posted July 1, 2004 yup, it's a simple screw fit... Pull the wire off, plonk on the correct sized socket, unbolt and fit the new one.... 8) easy peasy... Just don't do it when the engine is running or when it's hot else you may burn yourself slightly... ;)
G60Dan 0 Posted July 1, 2004 I have a G60 mate, going by your pic I'm assuming you have a VR so it's not going to be in the same location in the engine bay. Any VR boys care to help?
Sanj 0 Posted July 1, 2004 Where is this located ?? I think I need to replace mine cos it's not sending a signal at all to the MFA just reads "- - - -".
davidwort 0 Posted July 1, 2004 Where is this located ?? I think I need to replace mine cos it's not sending a signal at all to the MFA just reads "- - - -". check the block and cyl head earth straps, a dodgy earth can make oil temp figures go a bit wierd. The one on the top right cam cover bolt is notorious. David.
