Small front number plate???

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've been wanting to update my front end a little and have seen a few C's with the front number plate moved down under the bumper and filled the hole. Nice look!

The number plates look smaller, does anyone know where can I get one from and is it legal?

cheers

To keep in line with the rozzerz, the numbers have to be the correct height, width, & have the correct spacing between them.

And 11mm of space to the edge of the plate itself.

Check the DVLA site if you are concerned!

HTH

Ordered some plates for Fancyplates.com on thursday. Arrived yesterday, very impressed. I ordered front and rear plates with honeycomb background, std UK font and the custom sizes. The rear plate is 420mm x 100mm and the front is a 3/4 size bike plate i think. Recommended

well as the bumper is made of abs you could get a plastic soldering kit and use some bits off of an old bumper to fill in the holes and then make the plastic "welds" a little big and then sand them down then use minimal filler. Prolly be a good idea to brace it on the backside of the bumper as well to add stability. IIRC plastic soldering kits ususally consist of a high wattage soldering gun and some plastic filler rods. A mate of mine used this when he frenched his rear plate into bumper. Came out quite nice and has run for 2 years with no cracks or anything..

Ended up filling the holes with expanding foam(good fun) then filled over the top.I wouldve gone down the plastic welder route if i couldve found one as i used to use 1 when i worked at f#rd

I'm considering putting black old style ones on my car, to almost match the painwork, does anyone know if these are legal to put on?

you still see classic cars with them on, so they must be legal in some respects, might have to be genuine to the year though

You can only put them on car registered before 1975 or some thing like that!

Its in that £1000 fine catergory!

Black and silver number plates are only legal on cars registered before August 1972... (L plate or before)

as gibber_2k, says, £1000 fine if they're in an arsey mood when you get caught... :? :(
