Neocorrado 0 Posted July 28, 2004 i've never heard of them but i have the GIAC and i think its one of the best you can get.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted July 28, 2004 BBR as in Brodie Britain Racing? They specialise in Mazda MX5 turbo conversions, so might be someone else. GIAC are american and thus optimised to the 2.8 SLC engine. Good alternatives are an ECU remap by Geoff Everett (ex AMD) at Stealth or a Stealth supplied and optimised Unichip 'piggy back' system. Around the £400 mark for each. The latter is better if you plan on gradual mods to the engine. The former requires a new chip everytime you modify the engine. pablo_vr6 0 Posted July 28, 2004 anything thats good out of the box for a std engine? not easy to get people (cheaply) to do remaps over here.
dazzyvr6 0 Posted July 28, 2004 theres a bbm chip if thats what you mean(bahn brenner motorsport)but again thats for the 2.8 vr6

No two engines are the same unfortunately, so to get the best results for your particular engine, ideally you need a rolling road optimised map. Superchips do 'off the shelf' ones but they only have Golf VR6 maps, so not suited to the 2.9. The chips are expensive because of the licensing costs for the map software. And standard ECUs have to have the hardwired chip unsoldered and a chip holder put in it's place. The blank chips aren't especially cheap either. Neocorrado 0 Posted July 28, 2004 I dint know GIAC was only for the 2.8 but i guess we in the US don't have many choices i got some stuff from Bahn Brenner but i didn't know if they had a chip for the corrado i though it was the same as the GIAC

K they used to do the star-chips for a massive amount of cars....well on their list they had.....IIRC they claimed 212bhp for the C VR6
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted July 28, 2004 212!! Maybe Asim's has a Star-chip in his then?
DEL VR6 0 Posted July 31, 2004 what does a engine remap and superchip do for the car?
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted July 31, 2004 Makes it smoother and more responsive. You usually get more power too.
DEL VR6 0 Posted July 31, 2004 are Stealth any good for this sort of thing? i was there for the midlands rolling road, and i was well impressed with the way they work, and they already sorted out my cam belt position sensor which instantly gave me back some 20bhp, as the car wasnt running right with that sensor being faulty. can a chip / remap really get anymore out of the VR? It is currently giving 193bhp and 183 lb/ft of torque. has anyone got any experience of their own of this sort of thing?
