russg60 0 Posted July 3, 2004 anybody got ant idea bout this would be helpful as i like overtaking people when i change down a gear from 5th to 4th or 3rd my 90 spec g60 stutters when i put my foot flat to the floor to overtake hence it takes a lot longer than it should cheers in advance
h100vw 0 Posted July 3, 2004 Digilag :?: Where the car runs off the lamdba probe, before going open loop. SNS chip if you want rid of it. Gavin
russg60 0 Posted July 3, 2004 what does that mean? plz explain a little more for me ta
h100vw 0 Posted July 4, 2004 When you go to a wide open throttle the ECU still references the lambda probe for information on mixture strength. It does this for 2-3 secondsish. After that time it reverts to a saved map in the ECU. Closed loop mean it is using the probe to monitor the mixture and can see the changes it makes in the fuelling. If you have a Air Fuel ratio meter connected to your probe you can see the output constantly changing. This is due to the ECU chnaging the mixture. When it sees a rich mixture it leans it out and vice-versa. Going to open loop, allows it to run rich which helps during acceleration. SNS have re-written the code so that it goes open loop straight away. They are the only chip makers that have done this, that I am aware of. Have a look here, http://www.snstuning.com for all the info you need. I am assuming that your car runs ok, other than seeming hesitant when getting on the gas. You could have other timing and fuelling problems. The SNS site has some good info on getting the best out of a std car. Like making sure the vac hose to the ECU is teh rght length (1 M). Majik 0 Posted July 4, 2004 You cant just come to the conclusion that its digilag, the car is over ten years old and there is going to be wear and tear on the components which affect the running of the car, ie co pot, cap, rotor arm, injectors etc. Make sure the car is running 100% before getting any modifications, like mine i got the running sorted out now it rip for engine mods. stevemac 0 Posted July 4, 2004 Majik, I agree - my G60's "digilag" is not noticable & I don't have a SNS chip (yet). When I shift down a gear & floor the throttle, my car sets off straight away. Sounds like more of a timing/fuelling issue to me. Or possibly even a dead WOT (wide open throttle) switch ?? Could even be a "dying" charger or badly worn auxilliary drive belt ?? Supercharged 2 Posted July 4, 2004 Yep, mines also completly standard still and I don't notice any lag... wouldn't mind a bit more power and low down torque tho...
dazzyvr6 0 Posted July 4, 2004 hes not actually saying it IS diglag..he is saying it COULD be digilag..ive heard a few g60 owners going on about digilag..and how noticable it is..so dont assume it isnt digilag
stevemac 0 Posted July 4, 2004 hes not actually saying it IS diglag..he is saying it COULD be digilag..ive heard a few g60 owners going on about digilag..and how noticable it is..so dont assume it isnt digilag Digilag is nowhere near as noticable as people would have you believe Dazzy. What we're saying is that the problem could have any number of causes & technical fault diagnosis over the internet is, at best, very unreliable. I would have the car checked out at a VW specialist, preferably with a rolling road. In my experience digilag does not cause a car to "stutter" as russg60 describes. russg60 0 Posted July 5, 2004 cool cheers for all that guys ill have to call in to get it checked as it really pisses me of when i think i wont quite make it past some 1 let u know what it was ta
RACK 0 Posted July 5, 2004 Mine was doing exactly the same a while ago. Check the vacume pipe that comes off the end of the throttle bodie and down behind the rocker cover. Mine had split slightly and I notice the mis-firing badly. Took me all of 2 minutes to fix and it felt back to normal. Just a quick suggestion.
kongo127 0 Posted July 5, 2004 My first sugestion is to check the g-charger health. Actually i am running without him, and i never thought that it could make so much difference in the car! I don´t blame digi-lag either, but it is noticable when you´ll try the SNS chip without the digi-lag! Much more better response! When you step on the throttle he responds immediatly! :D If i were you i would check: - spark plugs/wiring - dizzy cap/rotor - ignition timing - CO2 pot (500 ohm) - ISV - possible leak in the vaccum hose (ECU) You should be able to check all these items in a couple minutes! 8)
